Department of Justice Annual Reports to Parliament: Access to Information Act

The Access to Information Act (ATIA) was proclaimed into force on July 1, 1983. The Act gives Canadian citizens, permanent residents and any person and corporation present in Canada a right of access to information contained within government records, subject to specific and limited exceptions.

According to sections 72 of the Access to Information (ATIA) and of the Privacy Act (PA), the head of every government institution must prepare their annual reports for submission to Parliament on the administration of both Acts within their institution for each financial year.

This record presents the annual reports from 2011 onwards. Should you wish to obtain reports from earlier years, you may send an email to ATIP-AIP@justice.gc.ca.
