The employment rate refers to the number of persons employed in the week (Sunday to Saturday) prior to Census Day, expressed as a percentage of the total population 15 years of age and over. The participation rate measures the total labour force (comprised of those who are employed and unemployed, combined) relative to the size of the working-age population. The unemployment rate refers to unemployed persons expressed as a percentage of the active labour force in the week previous to Census Day.
